WOWWW!!! What an incredible poem! Actually, to call this a poem sort of diminishes it. What a beautiful tangle of imagery! The more I read it, the more it takes my breath away. I'm a little jealous.

Not long ago, I made a similar decision about my new book, Hartwell Road. Agonized over it for a while because writing brought out something in me as a writer that was better than I knew how to be and, after countless rewrites (at least 10) ,I found myself believing in it as book in a way that had little to do with ego or achievement. My 1st book was written as a kind of conclusion for a decade of writing in a narrow niche. Hartwell Road was written as a beginning. I was even starting to get polite, handwritten rejection notices! Perhaps a couple more years of submissions would get it conventionally published. But the book had dominated my life for 3 1/2 years and its status in worldly limbo was inhibiting my progress with new writing in ways that were, I admit, neurotic. Time to get it out into the world. Once made, I found my decision to self-publish (print-on-demand) liberating--hope it's the same for you. Wish I had some sage advice to offer on marketing, but that's definitely not my forte. When the time comes though, if you'd like to do a signing/reading in Warren, I can assist in arranging it.

Thanks for the heads-up. Kellog's story Each At His Own Pace is amusing, endearing, and well-written.

Well, this is why it is sometimes nice to leave things alone for a while. I was recently wishing that I had something new to read from my favorite writer, and then I realized that I hadn't been to her blog for a while. Lo and behold, there was something I hadn't read yet! So far, this story is both funny and intriguing. As always, I am waiting for more.
